Picking myself up and dusting myself off

After giving myself plenty of time to recover from failing at the Iowa State Fair’s photography salon for the second consecutive year (ugh), I received a “Call for Art” message in my Facebook feed.

Specifically, this message.

The Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts has an upcoming juried photography show that hopes to showcase the talents of Central New York photographers.

After I contacted them and confirmed that I could qualify (Albany is “kinda” on the edge of what we call Central New York), I decided to enter the maximum of two photos – with the proviso that both entries represent scenes I’ve captured in Central New York.

Specifically, I’m going with these two shots.

Well now. An assemblage of over a dozen film photos from Hamilton College’s Chapel, and my lenticular “magic motion” capture of a decaying Grateful Dead Super Beetle in Old Forge.

So this morning, I filled out the paperwork and submitted these two captures.

In other words … Competition Season 2026 may have hit an early snag …

But I think it’s time to build new stitches to repair the holes. Don’t you?
